I was planning for a remarkable, awe-inspiring birthday message, you see. The one you will bookmark and visit once in a while over the years when you’re feeling shit and you need reminding that someone cares if you’re down and depressed for many reasons and no reason at all. The problem is, I don’t know how to begin writing that message…because we all know we’re not the kind of people who get overly sentimental. Anyhow, we may not be the hugging or the beso-beso type of best friends, or the sort to call each other “bestie” or “my bitch” in person, but that doesn’t mean the friendship we share is any less genuine.

I’ve read somewhere that when a friendship survives for seven years, it will more likely to last an entire lifetime. Ours have persisted for six years and I know, I know that it will withstand for many years or decades to come. In those years we’ll continue to share our love for books and movies. We’ll swoon and scream over tv series and we’ll still argue over fictional boys. We’ll never run out of things to talk about and we’ll find time to have our morning runs.

And before this message turn into a big cheese ball, I’d like to say thank you for existing and sticking with Meann and I for a third of our lives. And thank you in advance, for spending the rest of yours alongside ours. Happy Birthday Clarissa!!!

Because we think even a dystopian society also deserves to experience the joy of this season, we present to you this month’s contest— Christmas in Panem!

What is Christmas for the citizens in Panem? or How do you think citizens of Panem celebrate Christmas?

Mechanics:
1. The theme for this contest is: ‘Christmas in Panem’. (See the criteria)

2. Contestants are to submit an entry bulit around the theme. Any form of media will be accepted. (Freehand drawing, prose or poetry, short story, video, audio, poster etc.)

3. Deadline of submission of entries is on or before December 31, 2011 at 11:59pm. Entries should be sent to hungergamesphils@gmail.com Subject: Christmas in Panem Make sure you include your FULL NAME, COMPLETE mailing address & contact info

4. Any submission with severely inaapropriate content will immediately be disqualified.

5. Limitations: If video/audio, it should run for a maximum of 3 min. For Artworks: Files should be sent in jpeg,gif,png or psd files only with max size of 2 MB. For written entries: maximum of 1,000 words. For ALL media, language to be used is English so everybody could understand =)

6. PRIZE: Winning entry will win A MOCKINGJAY PIN! Runners up will get consolation prizes. (This is for individual participants only. But we will allow group entries for short film entries only. But we can only give 3 pins to the group)

7. Open to Philippine residents only. (Sorry Int’l fans, as much as we would like this to be open for everyone, we just can’t)

8. By submitting your design you declare that it is an original work and you grant HGP the exclusive right to publish your work.

Criteria for Judging:

Relevance/Content (35):
*Does the entry exemplify the theme?
*Does it display the spirit of Christmas?
*Does it remain true to the “world” of The Hunger Games?

Originality and Creativity (30)

*Technical (20):
*Is it masterfully done in its own type of media?

Impact (15):
* An unbiased panel of judges will rate each entry in this category.
* Is the entry striking? Unforgettable?
